10,685 at last count to be precise – more than any other nation – and the good thing is that our beaches are open to anyone. We do not have private beaches in Australia.
Most of our major cities and many towns
are located on the coast within only a few kilometres of a beach or the ocean.
Our biggest city – Sydney – has world famous Bondi Beach and Manly Beach only about 15 and 25 minutes from the middle of the city centre respectively.
Of course with almost 11,000 beaches, there are also many different opinions on which is the best beach in the country, but that’s something we think you should make up your own mind about!
