The future of the Socceroos will control the immediate destiny of Football in this country. if the national team is strong and going well then football will continue to grow. I worry about the depth of talent to support the expansion of the A - League.

I think a lot is riding on the success of the socceroos. If they continue to make World Cups, and do well, then I think the sport will continue to grow. It will be interesting to see if there is enough local talent to handle the A-League expansion

many of the young talents coming through in australia at the moment will be playing in the English Premiere League ( A- League still a couple of years away from drawing young talents across the sea but has become better). Rugby League will not exsist.

I think that football in australia will be much bigger than it is now. A-league is on the rise, there are a some youngsters that have major potential for the national team (Leckie and Oar) and in 8 years time all the hard work will definately show.

Aussie Soccer is on the rise. i live in a small town and have to drive 1/2 an hour to get to training/home games. I'm the only one in the town playin soccer but some of my mates want to but cant because of the drive and that shows how its rising.

I think there is no reasons stopping Australia being a world powerhouse in 8 years time. We need to establish a good young development system and send players to Europe at a young age where they can train with the worlds best coaches

i love soccer but where i live it cost way to much to play, men pay $400 for a season when they can play rugby for $50 and with the juniors it the same we had 3 clubs fold this year cos of new rules and fee rises why would parents pay that much?

The game will be bigger, still not quite the biggest until we land a world cup or make it past the 16. A-league is going from strength to strength we just need more $ and bums in seats to make it better.

Sure it will be growing, alot of bigger companies are getting behind the teams and web sites like this are really a postive thing for the game. Once few more people start getting to the games it'll be well on it's way.

We'll have a B-League and promotion/relegation system. A-League will have 16 teams, Top 4 will get automatic ACL qualification - no finals. Maybe we'll even have an FA Cup style comp. Crowds will be growing rapidly as a World Cup on home soil approaches.

MadJock, im with you mate. I think there will probably be more than 14 teams though - maybe 18. I wish there will be a second tier but It probably isn't realistic. Perhaps there will be a revitalized state league that feeds the A-league..

I think there will be 16 teams in the A-League. I pray there will be a second tier of sorts with promotion/relegation. I hope that there are 3 or 4 teams in the ACL and we definitely should attract more African and Asian players. Free-to-air would be nice
